Berkane’s Renaissance Sportive (RS) is having a difficult start to the season. The winner of the African Confederation Cup lost in the first leg in Nigeria against Kwara United (3-1) in the preliminary round of this competition for the 2022-2023 season. A new defeat which seriously reduces the chances of Orange to participate in the competition.
The management of Berkane has also sounded the mobilization to win the qualification next Saturday at home. During a meeting held Tuesday evening in the presence of players, staff and coach Abdelhak Benchikha, a general assessment of the start of the season was made.
“This meeting ended with the club president’s call on the need to return to the winning track, starting from the next match ,” the club said in a statement. Management insisted on the need to “work together and multiply efforts to break the cycle of negative results” . The president of the club Hakim Benabdallah particularly invited the fans of the club “to support the team in order to obtain positive results and overcome this slump” .
Disappointed by this start to the season, supporters are pushing for a change of coach if the results do not change. But the boss of the club calls for patience and invites them not to damage the image of the team.
Berkane hasn’t won any games this season. The Orange are penultimate in the standings with only one point on the clock in four games. An elimination next Saturday could seal Benchikha’s fate.
