Nigeria imposes itself without trembling
After its success against Egypt at the opening of the CAN, Nigeria faced Sudan for the 2nd day. A victory would allow the Nigerians to join the 1/ 8th finals of CAN 2021. And it’s done thanks to a 3-1 victory over Sudan.
The Nigerians get several chances just before the break. But Troost-Ekong stumbles first on the goalkeeper. Joe Aribo, Taiwo Awoniyi and Moses Simon are clumsy. Three minutes from the break, Joee Aribo has the opportunity to unlock his counter in this CAN, but he crosses his shot too much. By dint of pushing, the Super Eagles will find the fault in the 45th minute . On a free kick from Kelechi Iheanacho, the Sudanese defender deflects on the head of Taiwo Awoniyi. The latter simply puts his head in opposition. 2-0 at the break for Nigeria.
Moses Simon untenable
In this CAN 2021, Nigeria can count on Moses Simon . Already a blaster against Egypt, the Nantes player did it again against Sudan. After his assist on the first goal, the 26-year-old went for his goal in the 46th minute . After a one-two with Awoniyi handing the ball to him, he perfectly adjusts goalkeeper Ali Achrine, helpless.
In the 70th , Sudan has a golden opportunity to score its first goal in this CAN 2021. After a Sudanese corner, Nigerian Ola Aina pulls his opponent’s jersey. The referee whistles a penalty. Walieldin Khedr Safour Daiyeen is responsible for executing the sentence and scores in force.
