L has SRC, the equivalent of the Ministry of Sports, decided to suspend the board of the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA), on the grounds that “women referees” were the subject of “fraud” and “Sexual harassment” by technical staff of ZIFA.
After breaking the news to the press on Tuesday, November 16, CBC President Gerald Mlotshwa said his country was ready to shoulder the consequences of such a move. Because the F IFA, which does not tolerate the intrusion of politics and / or politics in the affairs of national federations, has not yet reacted. But the reaction of the world body, which is against any interference by state authorities in the management of sports associations, should however not be long in coming.
Zambia could benefit
The Zimbabwe Federation could then very quickly be suspended by FIFA, thus resulting in its exclusion from CAN 2021.
However, such a sanction does not yet seem to alarm CBC leaders. “We will always consider this to be a short-term measure.
If it takes us a year, two years and we are excluded from international football, I think it is very good and that everyone accepts it, ”blurted out, a bit fatalistic, Gerald Mlotshwa, quoted by RFI.
If Zimbabwe is excluded, Zambia, which finished 3rd in Pool H of the qualifiers behind the Warriors and Algeria, could inherit the qualifying place for the CAN and join Senegal, Guinea and Malawi in the hen D.
